Why the dragonfly?

Dragonfly maneuvers in flight and lands on a branch. Filmed with Phantom v710 high speed camera at 5000 frames per second. Location: Veenendaal, the Netherlands, where my mother is from. Authors: Emile van Wijk and Joris Schaap Credits: Flight Artists (Vliegkunstenaars), Wageningen University and authors. Music: August by Marcel Pequel (http://www.last.fm/music/Marcel+Pequel)

Traditionally, the dragonfly symbolizes change, on your perspective of life, the world and yourself.  I relate to that, having made several changes lately, in my education, my career, my faith journey and my life's perspective.

Change brings challenge, and the need for resilience and strength. The dragonfly accomplishes its objectives with utmost simplicity and effectiveness, and does it with elegance and grace. This cool little insect has the ability to move in all six directions, exuding a sense of power and poise. Like many multi-tasking women :)

When a dragonfly shows up in your life, its an invitation to embrace a quiet moment, to feel a lightness, to appreciate beauty.  This practice of living IN the moment makes you aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing and why, and this focus helps you make informed choices in the moment.

Take your coffee or tea and take a break. Watch, listen and enjoy a few moments of meditative, restorative lightness and calm . . .
